The following services are available for women seeking pregnancy terminations:

Contact Information

• Abortion up to 18 weeks
• Laminaria for patients who are in their second trimester
• Confidential health history covering allergies, previous medical care and surgery
• Discussion with a counselor regarding options, questions, legal requirements etc

• Laboratory tests including a pregnancy test and an Rh factor screening test
• Pelvic examination and ultrasound
• The procedure may be done with a local anesthetic, conscious sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the stage of pregnancy and the patient’s wishes
• Recovery room care including aftercare instructions and birth control information and samples
• Two week post-surgical follow-up visit

We are pleased to be able to offer medical abortions to a select group of women on a case by case basis. This is exciting news, but medical abortions are not an alternative for everyone. Patients should be aware that this is a medical process which takes place over a two week period and involves three office visits. Patients must have a support system in place before this process can begin - at that time, patients must be less than 49 days pregnant to be considered for this program.

Eastland Women's Clinic utilizes only the FDA approved method of Mifepristone. We place the safety of our patients first. Eastland Women's Clinic does not advocate the use of other non-approved, or off-label drugs such as methotrexate to induce an abortion (this is often referred to as an M&M abortion because of the use of Methotrexate - a drug used in cancer treatment and Misoprostol). When the safety of these other drugs have been studied and approved for abortion patients, Eastland Women's Clinic will reconsider making them available to our patients.

If you decide to have an abortion, Michigan Law requires you to receive certain material 24 hours in advance of the surgery. Many people believe that this material is intended to change your mind by making you feel guilty or scaring you. Remember this is your decision, only you can decide what is best for you in your circumstances.

If you decide to receive the material over the internet, you must review the material and print out a confirmation receipt to bring to the doctor’s office - see the full instructions on our 24-Hour Consent section. You can click on the 24-Hour Consent section of this web page and it will bring up more specific instructions for using the state website and a link to the state website. If you don’t want to use the internet to receive the material you can still come into our office to pick up the state mandated material, or we can fax it to you.

After your follow-up visit, we offer a range of gyn services for family planning, cancer screening and sexually transmitted diseases.
